What is the Assembly?
The Synod Assembly is the highest legislative authority in our synod. The synod's rostered leaders (pastors, associates in ministry, diaconal ministers, and deaconesses), lay voting members, and visitors come together once a year to work on the synod's business.
Business at the Assembly
Those assembled elect leaders of the synod to serve on committees, boards, and task forces; elect voters for the biennial ELCA Churchwide Assembly; worship; listen to speakers, attend workshops; and enjoy fellowship time together. The synod assembly is a great way for members and and visitors to network with others from around the synod.
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, that you may declare wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were no people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. ” 1st Peter 2:9-10
About the "God's Work. Our Hands." Campaign
If you're not, we invite you to begin, today, to be a proud ambassador of our church. Spread the word about the many lives affected positively by the ELCA. Ask your pastor or a leader in your congregation about programs and ministries your congregation offers. Invite a friend to come to worship the next time you go. Tell them about the ELCA and how it brings meaning and purpose to your life.
