Nominations and Elections

Part of the business of each assembly is to elect members of the synod council and other synod committees. The open positions are listed below. Please review them and submit a nomination if you know someone who would be appropriate.

Nominations

This year, nominations is a two-step process:

Submit a Nomination if you know someone you want to nominate.

Accept a Nomination after you have been nominated.

The publication deadline for nominations is Friday, April 1st, 2016. Nominations received after the publication deadline will not be printed in the booklet for voting members. Nominations must be submitted online by 7:00 pm on Friday, April 29th, 2016 (the first evening of assembly) to be included on the ballot.

Nominations for all positions may be made by any active member of any Oregon Synod congregation.

Synod Council

Our Synod Council is made up of both lay and clergy members. Terms are three years and may be renewed once. Some Council positions are filled by individual clusters and other positions are "at large," open to nomination from anyone in the synod. In every case we are looking for council members with a heart for the Lord, who are creative and hardworking, who will be in conversation with church members around them and their community, who are flexible and creative, trusting and hopeful. Council members have three meetings a year and the opportunity to serve with sub-committees or task groups between meetings.
