2007 Oregon Synod Assembly
On the Road Together in Christ
May 18-20
Hilton, Eugene

May God bless us in our prayers, in our discernment, and in our faithful choices as we elect a new bishop for the Oregon Synod. We trust that the Holy Spirit is leading and guiding us in the process of public conversation, as well as in the election process that will unfold at the Assembly. Please join us in prayer on Sunday, May 13th. Below you will find several prayers for your congregation's use.

Enlightenment of the Holy Spirit

"God Almighty and All-tender: Grant us, we pray, to be grounded and settled in your truth by the coming of the Holy Spirit into our hearts. That which we know not, reveal; that which in wanting in us, fill up; that which we know, confirm; direct us in electing a Bishop and keep us in your service; through Christ our Lord. Amen."

Those seeking deeper knowledge of God
"Gracious and holy God, give us diligence to seek you, wisdom to perceive you, and patience to wait for you. Grant us, O God, a mind to meditate on you; eyes to behold you; ears to listen for your word; a heart to love you; and a life to proclaim you; and may the process of electing a Bishop for the Oregon Synod proclaim you; through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen."

Faith for the Journey
"O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
