Check-in begins at 12:00 noon on Monday, January 16, and we will begin with worship at 2:00 p.m.

·         Reading before convocation and together “The Shalom Church: The Body of Christ as Ministering Community,” by our guest speaker, Dr. Craig L Nessan, Academic Dean and Professor of Contextual Theology at Wartburg Theological Seminary.

Dr. Nessan teaches courses in the areas of contextual theology, pastoral theology, and theological ethics and has oversight of Wartburg’s internship program.  He is also the author of Beyond Maintenance to Mission: A Theology of the Congregation (2010, Revised Edition), Liberating Lutheran Theology: Freedom for Justice and Solidarity in a Global Context (2011—with Paul Chung and Ulrich Duchrow).  Dr. Nessan has served eleven years as a parish pastor in Philadelphia, PA and Cape Girardeau, MO.  He and his wife Cathy have six children.
