What an Endowment Can Do...

Homeless is Not Hopeless

storyimageCasa de Belen and a homeless drop-in center of Roseburg, Oregon, benefit from a coalition of agencies and churches, including Faith Lutheran Church. In 2008, Faith Lutheran received a $3,000 Creative Ministry Grant from the Oregon Synod to help remodel a space for the drop-in center.
Homeless teenagers in Roseburg now have a place to wash their clothes, have a meal, finish homework and pick up mail thanks to the Douglas County Runaway and Homeless Drop-In Center. Homeless, in this case, means any young person who doesn't have a permanent address.

The Center is connected to Casa de Belen, a transitional housing facility where families with children can stay for as many as 18 months “to get back on their feet,” said Stephanie Roberts, activities director. The center is also a place where volunteers can help the homeless youth find services, such as medical care or counseling.

ELCA Foundation

Our churchwide ELCA Foundation exists to sustain and grow ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Through our nationwide network of professional gift planning staff, we assist members in their call to live as faithful and generous stewards. We also support and strengthen the ministry of congregations, agencies, and institutions through financial education, resources, support, and investment management services. Help sustain and grow the ministries of the ELCA today!

ELCA Mission Investment Fund

Through the Mission Investment Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, individual members, congregations and ministries of the ELCA can purchase investments, earning interest at competitive rates.

With these investments, the Mission Investment Fund makes loans to help congregations purchase land, expand their current facilities or begin new building projects that directly benefit their members and surrounding communities. Though the loans are for a wide range of uses, they all have one thing in common: each is helping to grow the ELCA and advance its mission.
