Allert Fund For Leaders

storyimageOregon Synod Endowment Board distributes Allert Scholarships to second & fourth year seminarians from our synod every year. The ELCA Foundation manages the Allert Fund as part of the Fund for Leaders, and announces at the beginning of each year how much money is available for scholarships.

The Synod Candidacy Committee notifies the Endowment Board who the qualified candidates are. The Endowment Board then invites the candidates to submit a simple application in the spring. After reviewing the applications, we notify the recipients directly of their awards. Scholarship recipients are lifted up at the Synod assembly in May. Payments from the Fund for Leaders are sent to the students' seminaries at the beginning of each term of the following school year.

For more information on how to give to this fund email the synod endowment committee at endowment@oregonsynod.org or call the synod office at 503-413-4191.

Application Process and Documents

The Oregon Allert Fund for Leaders is an endowed scholarship resource for ELCA seminarians. One goal of the Fund is to support full tuition for every qualified candidate, studying full time at an ELCA seminary, who has a commitment to ordained or rostered lay ministry in the church. As the endowment is building, the synod is committed to funding a current scholarship program.
