Communion Ware Journey

Each of the 65 ELCA synods have received a set of Bethlehem communion ware at the August 2005 Churchwide Assembly, launching the new campaign “Peace Not Walls: Stand for Justice in the Holy Land.”

The communion ware will travel among congregations to remind us of our companionship in mission with brothers and sisters in the Holy Land and to help us express hope that members will learn how to advocate for peace with justice in Israel and Palestine.

To request the communion ware please contact Ron Nitz the communion ware coordinator. Whenever possible, we hope to have one user forward it on to the next user, rather than always having it come back to Pastor Ron. Two additional copies of the video that goes with the communion ware set have been purchased. Congregations are now able to view this video before their own personal use of the Bethlehem Communion Ware set. Please call Pastor Nitz to check on availability at 503-762-1630.

We are asking everyone to consider taking a digital photo or two of the use of the set for a sort of "photo journal" web site that we will be creating to log the travels of the set around the synod.
