Youth Convo happens concurrently with the Oregon Synod Assembly. It is a great opportunity to come together with youth from around the state for fun and fellowship. We will be participating in round table discussions, and meeting with Bishop Dave. We’ll be doing leadership development and electing next year’s OLYO Board officers. We will also have plenty of time for games and other fun activities.

The annual Youth Workers Extravaganza
Several of the youth workers from the Region 1 area participated in the annual Youth Workers Extravaganza in Anaheim California. The theme was FRESH.
Participants did some service work at First Lutheran Church in Inglewood California while they were in the area. They conducted a worship time for the preschoolers with songs, skits, and a message. With several youth workers in one place at one time there was much energy flowing through the event. Youth workers helped with the sand area on the playground, cleaned the brick area, researched grant possibilities and helped make a sign. Start saving your money for next year the Extravaganza is in New Orleans.
Speaking of New Orleans after two years of hurricane Katrina, there is much work to be done. While the participants were at the Extravaganza they had the opportunity to meet Jason Wilkinson who works with several of the churches in the area. He is in need of our prayers, and financial support. He has been hired by the Gulf Coast Synod until May with the help of a grant if we can be of any assistance please e-mail him at Jason@gulfcoastsynod.org or (504)237-2500. |
